Monday 13 May, 7pm to 9pm
Colourfest films celebrate Australia's ever-evolving identity as a nation of diverse faces. Come along and watch three short films.
- Our Stories, Our Voices - A newly arrived group of young people from Iraq, Syria and Ethiopia find out what Australians know about their home countries, and talk to migrants who have been here for many years, before sharing their food, music and culture. (10 mins)
- Panguna - Panguna is the name of a mine in Papua New Guinea. A villager from the area fell in love with an Australian mine worker. Their love story unfolds as the world around them was at war. (7 mins)
- My New Life - What is it like to leave your family, your friends and your country behind and start a new life in a new country? Four young people, in the process of making Melbourne their home, speak about the difficulties they have faced and the opportunities ahead for them as they make new lives for themselves. (10 mins)
Afterwards there will be a discussion session led by Catherine, one of our ESL teachers, and there will be light refreshments. This is a free evening, but please let us know if you wish to come for catering purposes.
